Deputy Calata responds to a domestic violence call. The deputies believe an intoxicated male suspect left the trailer but remains in the contained scene. Circling the trailer, the deputies spot the suspect lying down on the roof of the trailer. He refuses to come down and after several minutes, the deputies climb onto the roof and subdue the resisting suspect. They have a difficult time getting him off the roof since he wanted to get down his own way. Finally, on the ground, he says he knew about his warrant and didn’t want to go to jail. He tries to explain his side but fails. The deputies arrest him with his warrant, domestic violence, and resisting arrest.

Why Law Enforcement | Law enforcement was something I was always interested in doing, so after 7 years on active duty for the US Army, it was a natural choice for me when I was considering getting out of the service. I had a friend working for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, which was my number one choice, and after a few ride-alongs, I knew immediately this was the career for me. |
First Arrest | My first arrest was for a traffic offense when I was still in the Field Training Officer program as a new recruit. Although the crime would normally be considered “minor”, it was still exciting for me as a recruit to actually be implementing the things that I learned. I was trained well by the department, so it was smooth with no issues. |
Best part of the job | The best part of my job is getting to work with the team on the graveyard serving the community, and trying to find bad guys. We’re always out there helping people out and trying to catch criminals, and every single day is something different, which keeps every day exciting and fun. |
Hobbies | Being a resident of the northwest, I am really into the outdoors. I do a lot of hiking and camping, I just got into cycling, also do snowboarding in the winter. Basically, anything to get me outdoors, enjoying the beautiful area. |
Favorite Quote | My favorite quote that I use almost every night is, “No good deed goes unpunished.” I see a lot of friends and family members trying to “help” someone close to them, but that person they’re trying to help ends up being a drug-user or a squatter of some sort, eventually causing a nuisance to the person trying to help. |
